If you have multiple convictions for DUII, you will be required to have one. Under a law passed in 2011, if you are a first-time offender placed on diversion for DUI, you will also be required to have one. Oregon ballot initiative Measure 73, which passed in November, goes into effect on Dec 2.  It will result in significantly increased penalties for 3rd offense DUII (drunk driving) charges as well as repeat sex offenders. [read more...]

Measure 73 was up for debate this past week in the Legislature. The measure would stiffen penalties for both sex offenders and drunk drivers. Support for the measure is low, however, given the cost and the current financial climate. [read more...]

Oregon voters will potentially be making some law changes this fall. As the Statesman Journal reports, several initiatives have qualified for the ballot, leaving voters in charge of some critical changes to DUI law and medical marijuana issues. Over 80,000 signatures were received by the Secretary of State Kate Brown, qualifying these issues for the ballot. [read more...]
